NCIS SOUNDTRACK: A specially produced 2-CD
soundtrack from the hit television series, NCIS, will hit the stores on Feb 10,
2009. The compilation features brand new tracks from Blue October, Dashboard
Confessional, Oasis, and Bob Dylan amongst others on the first CD. The
soundtrack also features show star Pauley Perrette (Abby Sciuto), who performs
the self-composed Fear under the moniker Stop Making Friends. Perrette
has an extensive background in music, owning her own independent record label
and fronting several bands, and it is her character, Abby, whose music
sensibilities in the show serve as the basis for the soundtrack's darker
''Abby's Lab'' disc. That second disc includes also a brand new NCIS theme
remix from industrial music giants Ministry, the track Promises from
electronic music pioneers Nitzer Ebb,
Android
Lust's Hole Solution, Collide's Head Spin taken from their
recent release 'Two Headed Monster', the track Love Is Like as a product
of the collaboration Skold vs. KMFDM, as well as tracks by Perry Farrell, The
Airborne Toxic Event, Seether, and Solamingus.

THE
BIRTHDAY MASSACRE: The Birthday Massacre will be releasing a live CD and
DVD of their Hamburg Show from the 'Walking With Strangers' tour of 2007. They
have been working on the files for a few months and feel confident that the
product will be to the band's standard and one that the fans will appreciate.
The DVD will be 5.1 Sound for the best live effect. Still no decision has been
made whether to release the CD and DVD separately or as a package. The band
members have also been working on a brand new record and feel it will be ready
in the Fall of 2009. Most of the songs have been written and are in the process
of being recorded. Because of all this activity,
The
Birthday Massacre will not be able to tour for the next few months but as
with the last record, once they hit the road they will probably stay there for
the next couple of years.

THEATRE OF TRAGEDY:
2008 has mainly been spent writing and rehearsing the new material for the
upcoming 7th Theatre of
Tragedy album. So far 12 songs are done and 10 of those will make it to the
album. The drums have been recorded with Alexander Nyhus. Recordings are
planned for February and March 2009 so a release date should be in either June
or August depending on AFM Records. Erik Ljunggren will be handling the
production side of things. He knows the band very well and is a wizard when it
comes to sound. He has turned the knobs for The Kovenant,
A-Ha, Seigmen,
Zeromancer, and Satyricon. and was the mastermind of the legendary industrial
metal band Vampire State Building.
Theatre of Tragedy
played support for VSB in their beginnings in 1995.

THE GATHERING:
The Gathering announce the release of their 9th studio album in April 2009. The

and will have two other female guest singers on 'The West Pole'. The album is
produced by René Rutten, it will contain 9 tracks and will be released

Gathering's own imprint Psychonaut Records. According to Hans Rutten
"it will be a very extravert, rock orientated, alive album. Typically the
Gathering, but with many new elements. This time it's absolutely
guitardriven." 'The West Pole' will be available via
The
Gathering's own webshop one month before the actual release date.

DEPECHE MODE:
"Weve completed the record,"
Depeche
Modes frontman,
Dave Gahan,
told Pop & Hiss on Thursday via phone from New York. "There might be a
couple of bits and pieces weve got to clean up, but I feel really good
about the fact that were finished," he continued. "I think
weve made a great record." Gahan said the as-yet-untitled album,
slated for release this coming spring, will have about 12 tracks.
"Weve been spoiled for choice with this one because we recorded more
songs for this record than we ever had for any [other] record," he said.
"Maybe Im old school or whatever but once you start going over 12
songs, I think it becomes a little weird."
Gahanconfirmed
the 2009 disc, will contain the tracks Wrong and Peace, snippets
of which have been circulating the Web. Gahan, however, clarified that the
actual title of Peace is Peace Will Come to Me. Additionally, he
unveiled the titles of three more new tracks -- Hole to Feed,
Comeback and In Chains, all co-written by Gahan -- that are
likely set for inclusion on the album.
Gahan added
that the recording sessions, which took place over the last several months in
New York and Santa Barbara, were productive and that he and the act's principal
songwriter, Martin Gore,
are working well together. "We have about 18 songs," he said, even
hinting that the band will release a special EP or online-only add-on with the
extra material next year. But
Gahan
stressed that the EMI release will be just that a proper record that
doesnt run too long. And though the band is increasingly fond of using
guitars, the new disc may see a return to the
Depeche Mode's
original analog synth roots -- at least on a few tracks. "Martins
got this new fetish which is basically buying gear on EBay," Gahan said.
"He must have bought up half of the analog equipment around the world.
Weve got all these old drum machines from the 1970s, and even some of the
stuff that we used in the '80s as well, like old Moogs and Arps." As an
example, Gahan noted that
one of the new album's stars is a piece of gear dubbed "The Colonel"
- a vintage 1970s-era Steiner Parker synthesizer. It's an instrument, said
Gahan, "that makes crazy noises. We found it really inspiring and used it
in a lot of things [on the new record]."

SEABOUND: On
February 3, 2009 Metropolis Records will release a compilation of
Seabound
rareties: 'When Black Beats Blue', limited to 2500 copies. When Black Beats
Blue is a line from the Seabound song Breatheoff of the album
'Double-Crosser'. Seaboundchose it
as the album title because the idea of compiling an album of rare and
unreleased tracks was in part sparked by two amazing but yet unreleased
Breathe remixes. Metaphorically, "When Black Beats Blue"
refers to the single moment when a drowning person can still be saved. With
rare material from 2001 to 2008 and top notch remixers from the electronic
genre, this release contains collaborations with HECQ, Forma Tadre, Haujobb,
Mindless Faith, and more. The Domination remix by Die Form is
particularly worth mentioning because
Seabound are
the only band Die Form has ever remixed throughout its musical career.
Watching Over You (Live SF) is now professionally mastered on CD for the
first time and features Reagan Jones of
Iris, recorded
during the bands joint US tour in 2008.
