Revue Noir - Anthology ArchiveREVUE NOIR: Revue Noir is the collaboration between dark cabaret chanteuse Nicki Jaine and Black Tape for a Blue Girl leader Sam Rosenthal. Residing somewhere between rock, cabaret and torch singer, Nicki's captivating performance embodies the decadence and sorrow that filled the nights of pre-WWII Europe. Her direct, passionate delivery implores, seduces and screams out, setting a mood of desire and despair. Arranging vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, electronics, drums and violin, Sam brings together the diverse elements to create a nurturing environment for Nicki's performance. Along with the 10 original compositions are versions of The Velvet Underground's All Tomorrow's Parties, David Bowie's Rock 'n' Roll Suicide and the Brecht/Weill classic Alabama Song. Within the originals are three tracks Sam first recorded with Black Tape for a Blue Girl. For 'Anthology Archive', along with the already released material, Sam archived and revived seven additional rehearsal, demo & live tracks including two brand new original compositions (Strange Little Show and She is the Madman). "When Revue Noir stopped performing in 2005, there were only five songs that we released," Sam recalls. 'Anthology Archive' is an intimate glimpse at what could have been / what might yet be.

Shiny Toy GunsSHINY TOY GUNS: Shiny Toy Guns announce their new album 'Season of Poison'. It’s due out the last week of October. However, a single will be released earlier on August 11. The new CD is said to be as keyboard driven as it is organic but gone are the drum machines, gone are the super fluffy pop synths. Instead the record is taking more of a road of a band that merges Queens Of The Stone Age with old Skinny Puppy, dipped in Peter Schilling with a little Flash Gordon sprinkled on top. Ripping rock guitars and all toms on the drums instead of straight rock beats with 100% analog synths slicing through everything around it. The band announces also a new female singer, confirming that singer Carah Faye Charnow is no longer with the band. The Shiny boys have decided to go on without Carah who is now working on a new project in Sweden. Songs rumored to be included on the new album are When Revelation Calls and Blown Away. The band will go on tour to support the new release, including a date playing at the L.A.Weekly Detour Festival on October 4th.

Ultravox - Rage in EdenULTRAVOX: EMI have confirmed the release date for the remastered 'Vienna' and 'Rage in Eden' albums as Monday the 22nd of September, 2008. Over the coming months, EMI are looking to release all the Ultravox and Midge Ure Chrysalis-era albums. These will be regarded as Remastered Definitive Editions, and the aim is for each of them to take the following format; Disc One will contain the original UK album, whilst Disc Two will include all of the B-sides and extra tracks taken from accompanying singles, plus (wherever possible) a selection of previously unreleased material. No specific dates have been given for the release of 'Quartet' onwards, but it is confirmed that the intention is for them to be released in the order in which they were originally made available. Tracks that have previously been available were remastered between March and May 2008 at Abbey Road Studios, London, with the previously unreleased material mastered for the first time specifically for these new editions. It's worth noting that some of the previously unreleased material was, by their very nature, not up to the usual fidelity of studio recordings, but they have nevertheless been mastered to the highest possible standard. The decision was taken by Ultravox and EMI to include them for their 'historical significance'. These 'extra' tracks all capture moments that would otherwise have remained unheard and further add to the 'Definitive' nature of these releases. 'Rage in Eden' is going to be released with the re-instated original front cover ('Rage Face') artwork. This was withdrawn by Chrysalis after legal issues soon after its release back in 1981 and has been replaced by alternative artwork on all subsequent editions. The licensing of the 'Rage Face' artwork currently only extends as far as the initial run of the physical release of the album (set at 10,000 units worldwide). Future editions will feature new alternative artwork based around the 'three-horse' logo which appeared on the poster that originally came with the album. This 'alternate' front cover artwork will also be used for the digital release.

Simple MindsSIMPLE MINDS: Simple Minds will record the tracks for their new album in Rockfield Studios, Wales, throughout the month of August. It is bound to be a rather emotional return as Rockfield is where the band recorded some of their fledgling and most innovative work, specifically both their second and third albums - 'Real to Real Cacophony', 'Empires and Dance'. With Jez Coad who co produced the bands last album 'Black and White 050505' returning to fulfil the same duties, drummer Mel Gaynor and bassist Eddy Duffy will join founder members Charlie Burchill and Jim Kerr - both of whom have spent the last few months writing the set of new songs that are due to be recorded. Andy Gillespie will add additional keyboards. Legendary mixer Bob Clearmountain is set to complete the finishing work at his own Mix This studios in Los Angeles and the album when completed will be ready for international release within the early months of '09.

In The Nursery - The Passion of Joan of ArcIN THE NURSERY: The Passion of Joan of Arc, directed by Carl Th. Dreyer in 1928, is considered one of the best silent films ever made. The original version of the film was lost for decades, after a fire destroyed the master negative. Dreyer himself attempted to reassemble a version from out-takes and surviving prints, but he died believing his original cut was lost forever. Almost miraculously, a virtually complete print of Dreyer's original version was found in 1981. IN THE NURSERY wrote a new score which reflects the film’s dramatic highs and lows – from the emotional close-up photography of the trial through to the fevered final scenes surrounding Joan’s death. ITN's soundtrack of 'The Passion of Joan of Arc' will be released on September 26, 2008.

Blutengel - Winter of My LifeBLUTENGEL: The German masters of Dark Electro Pop have thought up something special to kick off their anniversary in style. Before releasing the first official single for their next album in autumn, they will serve their fans a very special dish in form of 'Winter of My Life' – an exclusive fan-goodie that is released on August 1st, as a digital download and as a luxurious collector’s 7” in clear vinyl, limited to 500 copies. The title track Winter of My Life is a marvellous appetizer for the upcoming album and a veritable smash hit. Blutengel play out all their strengths in a masterful combination of club beats, atmospheric sounds, the enthralling alternation of Chris Pohl’s dark voice and heavenly female vocals and an irresistibly catchy chorus, while being reminiscent of their past with the use of slightly distorted vocals and a gloomy mood. The b-side Point of No Return does not disappoint either, and features a solid dose of Blutengel’s signature hit qualities.

The Faint - FasciinationTHE FAINT: The Faint are set to release their first album in four years 'Fasciinatiion' on August 5, through their own, newly-formed label, blank.wav. 'Fasciinatiion', The Faint's fifth album, is the first in the band's ten-year history to be written, recorded, produced, art directed and released entirely on their own. 'Fasciinatiion' is an album that draws on many defining facets of The Faint's sound. The vocals sounds less human than ever before; the bass lines are more mangled, keyboards spiral and squeal out of control; electronic pings and stabs invade the melodies; the lyrical anxiety and disdain of previous albums pervades almost every song on 'Fasciinatiion'. The Faint start their North American tour in support of the new album at the end of July.

One and a half years after the successful release of 'Antikorper' with the stage hit Vergissmeinnicht, their next strike will be called 'SÜNDE': The third Eisbrecher album will be released on August 26, 2008 (in America – Germany on August 22). Until then, the single - Kann denn Liebe Suende sein - (July 18, 2008 in Germany only) will give a torrid taste of the upcoming album. Alexx and Noel promise their fans a somber medley of dark and rocking ice pearls at the height of summer: Album III will be far and away the hardest and most sinister album by the band in every way – the maxim: Delicately brutal! Hard but heartfelt! Before they get on the tour bus and head through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Eisbrecher will rock a few of the most important festivals in the scene to the ground: Zita Rock in Berlin, RockHarz in Förste, Amphi in Cologne, and M'era Luna in Hildesheim, to name a few.
Tracklisting (single): 1. Kann denn Liebe Sünde sein 2. Herzdieb 3. Kann denn Liebe Sünde sein ([:SITD:] Remix).

L'ame Immortelle - Durch Fremde HandL'AME IMMORTELLE: On July 25th, L'ame Immortelle will release 'Durch Fremde Hand' that can be regarded as a contextual and musical continuation and extension of their latest album 'Namenlos'. On the one hand, this Durch fremde Hand (=by stranger's hands") refers to the first CD of this double album which contains all the tracks of 'Namenlos' in identical order- interpreted, remixed or re-released by other artists such as ASP, Dope Stars Inc., Grendel, Necessary Response etc. On the other hand, it refers to one of the rare inscriptions on a cross found at the unimposing Vienna cemetery: "by stranger's hands". Once again LAI plucked the nameless dead from the cold floods of the Danube and the oblivion by producing six completely new and exclusive songs for the second CD and closing the cycle of the "Friedhof der Namenlosen" The Special Edition in strictly limited to 2,000 copies world-wide. The double-cd comes in a luxurious hardcover-digibook with a high-quality 28-pages booklet including all lyrics and atmospheric photographs taken "on location" on the cementary of the nameless and the surrounding meadows
